Facebook, once again, announced a change in its algorithm for contents that appear on News Feed. This time, Facebook emphasized on the loading speed of the webpage. Facebook’s engineering team indicated that, according to the study, users do not like a webpage that takes too long to load. It is found that 40% of users will immediately leave the webpage if they have to wait for more than 3 seconds for it to load. Therefore, in order to improve customer experience, this factor is taken into consideration. Within the next few months, contents or webpages that appear on News Feed will take less time to load on mobile phones. Meanwhile, those that take too long to load will have lower impressions on News Feed. Nonetheless, the speed of the internet of the user is also another factor that determines the amount of contents appeared on News Feed. If the internet speed is high, more links will be shown. Facebook asserted that the majority of webpages will not be affected by such change. However, those that have a slow loading speed will certainly be impacted. With that regards, Facebook provided a recommendation on improving the webpage’s loading speed on mobile phones.
